Aubrey McClendon (born Aubrey Kerr McClendon in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on July 14, 1959) was an American businessman and the founder and chief executive officer of American Energy Partners. He was also the co-founder and retired chief executive officer and chairman of Chesapeake Energy. Aubrey was very outspoken about his advocacy for natural gas as a cleaner and safer alternative to oil and coal fuels. Aubrey was a part-owner of the NBA team, the Oklahoma City Thunder and he was also a financial supporter of various non-profit organizations and public institutions in Oklahoma City.
